BCS Sports Opens New Campaign (English by Maister)

Here is the English version, loosely translated by Frank Maister (compliments of Google, we suppose):

“In the Second time, BCS left with desire and an intention. The game was fought and fast. BCS I strike the post twice when guardavalla Pirate already was overcome. The constant attacks were in a lack to meters of the area. Frank Maister, a strong and vocal player, maintained his focused jaw tightened, its eyes and their heart cold.

Without pain nor he brings back to consciousness, I shoot and I execute the Pirate doorman who not even could see riflazo I pester that it. With the firm ball despoliation the spiders of its pleasant penthouse. Although the equipment does not render like in last seasons, is playing well.

Considering that it has to his goleador, To stop “Sauce” Puello, in rest by an injury of the knee, the equipment has been stopped well in the field. With his soccer tuna and fort, it arrives without problems and it only needs to execute. There is no doubt that the equipment goes for above and the other equipment will have to worry about the White and Green tide. ”

BCS Sports (and Blog) Return

After inauspiciously opening its 4th campaign with two losses, BCS Sports is back to its winning ways after downing the aptly named Miami Confusion 4-2 last night.

Thanks in large part to the highly improved field conditions, the game started out at much faster pace than previous games.  After the teams traded away scoring opportunities, Piero Zamperin gave BCS Sports a lead it would not relinquish with an angled blast from 10 yards out.  The Confusion, perhaps living up to its name, added to its woes with an own goal, giving BCS a 2-0 lead at the half.

At the start of the 2nd half, BCS continued putting pressure on the Confusion backline, which eventually paid dividends when a Confusion defender again redirected a BCS shot into his own goal.  With a comfortable 3-0 lead, BCS relaxed and began to clumsily give up possession of the ball.  The Confusion took advantage and sneaked a shot past BCS goalie Jorge Delgado.  BCS responded immediately.  This time, Armando Aparicio cleverly redirected a Luis Delgado blast, giving BCS a comfortable 4-1 lead.  A meaningless Confusion goal near the end of the game rounded out the scoring line.

BCS now looks poised to make a run at the top of the leaderboard, particularly with next week’s matchup against 2nd place FC Barcelona.  With the return of the vacationing David Salomon and the addition of newcomers Christian Goffi and Cristian Cubillas, BCS hopes to build on its three game winning streak.

BCS Falls Short

As ACA comfortably played the ball from one end of the field to another, all BCS could do was chase.  Unfortunately, on this night, BCS simply could not catch up to the quicker and more fortuitous ACA side.

In the early seconds of the game, ACA capitalized on a clumsy giveaway by Gus Bravo near the BCS goal.  With the early lead, ACA seized the momentum and, minutes later, caught BCS flatfooted once again with a series of quick passes to take a 2-0 lead.  Undaunted, however, BCS would not go away so easily.  BCS regained its composure and possession, and eventually narrowed the deficit in half when Garry Schulthies drilled a low shot that bested the ACA goalie near post.

The second half began with BCS pushing the attack, seeking the tying goal.  After a few squandered opportunities near the ACA goal, BCS again fell victim to the quick striking ACA side, which capitalized on a loose ball near the BCS box to complete the final score, 3-1.  While BCS continued to press, and created a few clear scoring chances, luck and time were not on its side.

ACA deservedly claimed the top prize.  And BCS, considering the rash of injuries it suffered late in the season, made a valiant run at defending its crown.  Now BCS looks to the off-season to heal and perhaps add a little more depth to its roster.

BCS Advances to Title Game

As the ball bounced off Jorge Delgado’s gloves, a few BCS players sprinted toward their goalkeeper, celebrating Delgado’s penalty kick shootout save which catapulted BCS into the Champion’s League title game.  The rest of the team simply stood there, watching with exhausted admiration at the effort it took to defeat FC Ajax once again in the semifinals.

Last night’s match between BCS Sports and FC Ajax played out as expected.  Both teams went toe-to-toe for 60 minutes, each enjoying stretches of ball control and goal scoring opportunities, but neither side able to successfully penetrate the other’s defense.

Indeed, even after the first round of penalty kicks, the teams remained tied, each converting 2 of the 3 allotted PKs.  It was not until David Salomon drilled his PK into the upper reaches of the net, just below the center post, and Delgado’s gloves (and head) rejected the ensuing FC Ajax PK that a winner could be declared.

At times it appeared FC Ajax would win by default against a depleted BCS side, which entered the game with only 2 substitutions thanks to a rash of injuries.  This was especially true in the first half when in a span of 5 minutes both Armando Aparicio and Gus Bravo left the pitch with injuries.  While a gimpy Bravo returned in the 2nd half with a heavily bandaged knee, Aparicio’s pulled hamstring kept him on the sidelines the rest of the game.  Even so, as has been the case all season long, BCS did not wither in adversity.  The team simply regrouped and continued battling FC Ajax throughout regulation, perhaps even getting the best of its opponent in the 2nd half.

Now BCS Sports looks to defend its crown against ACA Football Club, arguably the most skilled and complete team in the league this season.  No doubt the youthful ACA side will be BCS’s toughest opponent to date.  And, no doubt BCS will be ready for the challenge and leave everything on the field in the finals.  Indeed, the matchup between the upstart ACA and defending champs BCS promises to be a memorable final.

For now, however, BCS is simply rejoicing another hard-fought victory over a nemesis and a chance to play one more game.

BCS Struggles But Survives

Perhaps due to the frigid temperatures (at least by South Florida standards), BCS Sports appeared listless and flat last night in its quarterfinal match against Lauderdale United.  Still, BCS managed to survive and defeat Lauderdale United by the slimest of margins, 1-0.

BCS’s biggest struggles came in the first half, where Lauderdale United often caught BCS out of position and flat-footed on defense.  Thanks to the stellar play of GK Jorge Delgado, however, BCS managed to keep Lauderdale United in check and off the scoreboard.

In the second half BCS regained its discipline, possession of the ball and, more importantly, took a one goal lead it would not relinquish thanks to Luis Delgado.  Delgado was the benefactor of a powerful run down the right flank by Armando Aparicio, who blew past the Lauderdale United defender and placed a perfect cross for Delgado’s one timer.  BCS calmly closed out the final minutes without giving up any scoring chances to the upstart Lauderdale United side.

BCS Sports now moves on to the semifinals against FC Ajax, which marks a repeat of last season’s semifinals won by BCS.  If previous encounters are any indication, the semifinal game promises to be a well-played, attacking contest no doubt to be decided in the last seconds.

BCS Begins Playoff on Positive Note

BCS Sports started the Champions League playoffs with a convincing 5-1 win over Them Guys.

BCS jumped on Them Guys early, thanks to a sizzling left-footed blast from Garry Schulthies.  Minutes later, after stealing a pass from the opposing GK who had left his box and joined the attack, Juan Arevalo calmly lofted a 30 yard shot into the open Them Guys net.  Toward the end of the first half and beginning of second half, Luis Delgado sandwiched in a pair of goals to increase the BCS goal count.  David Salomon rounded out the scoring by finishing off a one touch cross from Gus Bravo.

BCS now advances to the quarterfinals of the Champions League, and faces the upstart Lauderdale United side which has been quietly challenging the top teams as of late.  Now that the format has changed to single elimination, BCS hopes to not only raise its level of play but also the championship trophy in a few weeks.

BCS Ends 2nd Round on Winning Note

After a 2 week layoff, BCS Sports returned to action and defeated FC Hurricane 1-0 to finish the 2nd round of the Champions League on a winning note.

The only goal of the game came in the 1st half, courtesy of leading scorer Luis Delgado.  Delgado managed to deftly redirect a Garry Schulthies blast with his backheel into the back of the FC Hurricane net.  This would be the only goal BCS needed, as the defense led by goalkeeper Jorge Delgado, Juan Arevalo and Gus Bravo once again stifled the opposition’s attack and kept a blank scoresheet.

While BCS had several opportunities in the second half to widen its lead, a combination of timely goalkeeping and poor luck ensured only one goal would be scored on this frigid night.  The tall, lanky and extremely athletic FC Hurricane goalie rejected many of the BCS threats, including a well-placed penalty kick from Luis Delgado.  And when the goalie was out of place, BCS still squandered the chances with a misplaced touch, pass or shot.

Regardless, BCS finished the 2nd round with yet another well-deserved victory.  Now the final round, with its not-so-easy to decipher structure, begins.  If BCS hopes to defend its crown, it will have to find a way to be more efficient in the attack, especially since the quality of its opponents will improve significantly going forward.

BCS Earns Impressive Draw

Playing a man down the entire game, BCS Sports earned an impressive 0-0 draw last night against Los Pives.

Due to a combination of injuries, sickness, and election fever, only 7 players, including the goalkeeper, Jorge Delgado, showed up for the game.  This forced BCS to employ a 2-3-1 lineup against an opponent with a full compliment of substitutes.

Still, BCS managed to not only thwart the Los Pives attack, limiting the number of clear scoring chances to a few, but also create enough attacks of its own to keep the opponent honest.  Indeed, after a questionable yellow card was issued against Luis Delgado, BCS played part of the 2nd half down two men and still held off Los Pives.  The final minutes saw Los Pives desperately lobbing balls into the BCS area but to no avail.

In the end, the frustration of the Los Pives side and exhaustion of the BCS players following the final whistle said everything about this game.  This was a hard fought and victorious draw for BCS Sports.

BCS Stays Hot in the Cold

Despite a chilly evening, BCS Sports managed to stay hot by defeating One Way 2-0.

From the opening whistle, BCS took control of the ball and dictated the pace.  After a series of failed BCS opportunities, Luis Delgado added to his league leading total thanks to a deflected shot, and gave BCS a 1-0 lead halfway through the first half.  Minutes later, Delgado nearly doubled the score with a close range shot that beat the One Way keeper but somehow ricocheted off both goalposts and out of play.

Following a brief intermission, One Way increased its intensity and pressure.  With the play and tempers getting a little chippy, Garry Schulthies erased all doubts, taking a square pass from David Salomon near the One Way box, fooling the fast approaching defender with a quick turn, and drilling a 10 yard shot past the keeper and into the near side upper V.  BCS calmly withstood the desperate One Way attack in the final minutes, and earned a well-deserved 2-0 victory.

With the win, BCS continues to keep pace with the top of the Champions League leaderboard, which has essentially become a four team race.  Next week, BCS looks to maintain its current form against Los Pives.

P.S. – In honor of the “flying bird” celebration some of the BCS goal scorers seem to prefer, here is a video with some new material.
